Help CAH and the Carriacou Community after hurricane Beryl

Hurricane Beryl has left our cherished island of Carriacou in shambles. The devastating storm hit us directly, causing unparalleled destruction to homes, businesses, and critical infrastructures. Among the devastating hit is the Carriacou Animal Hospital, a vital clinic for our island’s animals and a cornerstone of our community.

**About Us**

My name is Nadine, I'm Swiss, living in Carriacou since 8 years and I'm the resident head volunteer vet at Carriacou Animal Hospital, the only permanent veterinary clinic on the lovely island of Carriacou. Carriacou Animal Hospital is dedicated to providing essential veterinary services, rescue operations, and animal welfare education. We are committed to the health and well-being of all animals on Carriacou and, in turn, support the people who live here. The charity is run by volunteers entirely.

**The Devastating Impact**

The current situation:

Hurricane Beryl left severe Damage to all infrastructures and homes including Carriacou Animal Hospital. Our facilities are have been hit hard and ruins are left behind.

Despite our benevolent efforts to find a solution, our landlords refused all our offers to rebuild the facilities. Their disregard forced us into a heart-wrenching decision. We had no choice but to decide to leave our home of 12 years. As of July 30th, we officially left our cherished location. We hold dear memories, but look forward to creating new ones.

Carriacou Animal Hospital is not just a location; it is an organization and a spirit dedicated to providing top-notch veterinary care to the island's companion animals.

While we pave our way to a new and improved permanent location for our clinic and volunteers, we will continue offering our services to the community in the form of outreach clinics in the different villages and have setup a temporary surgery location for cases that can't be treated at their home.

**Our Goals**

1. Mobile clinic & community outreach ad interim: This includes the access and use of a vehicle for our volunteers and its maintenance.

2. Ongoing community support: with free veterinary care, medicines, preventatives - and in time of this crisis - free pet food, and assistance to re-establish safe living areas for their pets.

3. Temporary surgery setup and volunteer housing: securing a temporary setup, including volunteer housing, power and waterproofing.

4. Setting up a new permanent clinic and volunteer housing in a new location as soon as a suitable property comes to light and is available.

5. Replacing Kennels: This includes replacing holding kennels and transport kennels.

6. Restocking Equipment: This includes surgery tables, surgery lights, medications, and all necessary supplies.

**The goals and needs as well as the GoFundMe amount for this fundraiser have been updated on July 31st 2024 after it transpired that the use of the previous clinic and volunteer housing facilities is no longer a valid option.
