Help Cait Beat Breast Cancer
One year ago, Caitlyn discovered a lump in her breast. Concerned, she went to her doctor in Bluffton, South Carolina-- only to be told that at 26 years old, it was nothing and no further testing was needed. In August of 2020, Cait noticed the lump had grown and returned to the doctor to request further testing. On September 9th, she got a mammogram and an ultrasound. When the results came back, doctors again reassured her that she was cancer free, but offered the opportunity to follow up with an oncologist out of extra precaution. Caitlyn took this opportunity and met with an oncologist in the following weeks. After undergoing a biopsy of the growing lump, Cait was, to many doctors' surprise, diagnosed with Stage 1 Invasive Ductile Carcinoma. Soon after, she received an MRI, which revealed that she was actually in Stage 2 with cancer in her lymph nodes.
After learning of the fertility complications that breast cancer can bring and hearing countless positive testimonies, Cait and her family decided to seek treatment at MD Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Texas.
While Cait is deeply thankful for the expertise and holistic support from her doctors at MD Anderson, receiving treatment across the country is an expensive investment. On top of fertility treatment, multiple surgeries, radiation, and potentially chemotherapy, Cait and her family are also investing in hotel accommodations and flights for each of these courses of treatment.
Upon receiving any gracious donation, Cait and her family will automatically donate 10% of that donation to MD Anderson Cancer Research. If the donations surpass the costs of healthcare, travel, and accommodation, any surplus will also be donated to MD Anderson, as well.
