Help Caley Get A Vehicle

UPDATE: I have purchased a car!! A cute little 1990 Dodge Omni :'-)

It's currently in the shop though and needs a bit of work; A broken bolt removed from the brakes, new tires, new windshield and side mirrors. While I was able to buy the car with money from this gofundme, I do need some additional funds to cover this work before I'm road safe and on the streets! I’ve been fortunate enough to’ve been babysitting a friend’s car the past couple months, but upon her imminent return I will no longer have transportation which is crucial for certain job opportunities in my life.

For years I’ve thought I’d independently raise the funds to purchase a vehicle, but it doesn’t ever seem to be manageable. I have found a used car with great low miles, great shape etc that’s priced at 5500 plus dmv fees, AAA, etc. so have put my goal at 6000, but really anything could help. If I’m unable to raise the money in time to purchase that car I will find something else.

I hope to do some additional fundraising soon, but need to get a vehicle of my own as soon as possible, so am turning to gofundme to help. I really wouldn’t do this if I had some other less public option, but I was denied the loan from my bank and don’t have family to help with a private loan.

I do feel embarrassed to ask, but it really does seem crucial to have reliable transportation for work at this point in my life. Perhaps some would like to support this endeavor.

If you don’t know me: I’m a 34 year old half Yup’ik artist from Alaska, living in Los Angeles and making a living selling my work, screen printed tees etc—also working part time at an antique shop and doing various gigs. I am from a low income background and still struggle with making ends meet; living modestly, though with the blessing of amazing friends and community.
