Help Calli Walk Again
Donation protected
Calli is a little staffie who was found by West Cork Animal Welfare Rescue, in a terrible state, a number of years ago. She came to live with us soon after as she continued her recovery.
Calli was badly scarred and covered in mange, as you can see in the video. She had recently had puppies ( never found) and she very nervous of certain things.
As time went on Calli made amazing progress, and even made new friends, learning that meeting other dogs didn't mean she had to fight. She learned to love life.
But just this week Calli began to struggle on her legs. Placing her paws became impossible for her and she couldn't stand or walk. After initial xrays and medication Calli began to improve, however that was short lived and she lost all use in her hind legs and her ability to toilet on her own.
After being referred to a specialist in Gilabbey Veterinary Hospital, Calli needed a CT scan and now needs immediate emergency surgery.
We are not about to give up on Calli. She is the toughest little girl we have ever met and she will never give up, so we won't either. The sooner Calli receives surgery, the better her chance of ever walking again.
But we all know that this is going to come at huge cost. Something we just don't have. We need your help. Calli needs your help.
We are trying to raise whatever we can to get Calli the care she needs.
I will provide a full breakdown of the Veterinary bill as soon as it is available to me, if anyone wishes to view it.
I will also provide details of any other funds collected via PayPal [email redacted]
Anything extra raised will go directly to the West Cork Animal Welfare Rescue, who saved Calli's life to begin with.
Please help us to help Calli. As long as there is a chance we are not giving up on her. She deserves life and love and we are going to make that happen no matter what
*****Edit *****
Calli's CT scans have not shown what the specialist had previously thought may be the issue. Any possible surgery is on hold for now. This is even more disappointing as she can only be treated symptomatially for now rather than a direct treatment to help fix the issue. Calli is being medicated and kept pain free for the moment. A meeting with a team of UK specialists will hopefully shed more light on why Calli cannot walk. I will keep the fundraiser open still as her veterinary bill is still in the thousands.
We can only hope her issue is treatable
******Update*******
So Calli comes home for now
After many tests and CT scans, and other veterinary specialists taking look at her case, we still have no further answers
It is not a disc herniation, so not surgical for now.
She has not deteriorated or improved, so with some use of her front legs, but still little or no motor function in her hind end. She is being treated for the pain and we are keeping her comfortable for the weekend until we travel to UCD early next week for an MRI.
We can only hope this will give us an answer.
I am absolutely humbled and overwhelmed at the support that has been shown for Calli. I couldn't have done any of this or what is to come without your help and I will be forever grateful
Thank you, thank you, thank you ❤️❤️❤️
We are not about to give up on Calli, not by a long shot
Thank you all again.
Kind Regards
Sharon
