Help Callie Beat Breast Cancer!
Donation protected
In April 2023, Callie, my 27 years old daughter, was diagnosed with Stage 3 type two invasive ductal carcinoma, which means she has an aggressive form of breast cancer. After consultations with the doctors, it became clear that it would not be possible for Callie to complete her year of teaching. It was hard to say goodbye to her students but Callie is focusing on healing and getting back to her students as soon as possible.
After a battery of tests, biopsies, scans and surgery to insert the port-a-cath, her oncology team started Callie on an intensive treatment plan. Her form of cancer requires 16 sessions of chemo, followed by bi-lateral mastectomy, reconstruction and radiation. The first 4 cycles of chemo really pack a punch and are exhausting and nausea-inducing. The following 12 chemo sessions are followed by surgery and then radiation.
Cancer not only attacks the body but the treatment assaults the family finances as well. As you know, Callie pours herself into helping and loving her students, friends, family and dogs. Let’s show our love and support for Callie and Jonathan by helping them alleviate the mounting financial burden this terrible illness can impose on patients who are working to make it through the treatment.
Any contributions, large or small, will help and will go directly to Callie and Jonathan through this GoFundMe page. Our goal is to support them while she is not working and headed into the surgeries and radiation this semester.
Many thanks in advance for your contributions, support and for surrounding such a remarkable woman who is often thinking of others before herself.
