Help TinyPurring Callie with dental surgery

TinyPurring Rescue is a group of community volunteers helping to rescue and rehome cats. We are raising money for sweet tortoiseshell cat Callie’s dental surgery. This surgery will save her life.
Callie’s bone loss is from infections she endured as an Alderwood feral cat for five years, probably dumped at an early age. If left untreated, her bone damage can lead to pathologic fractures of the jaw (the jaw breaks during normal activity because it has been severely weakened by the chronic inflammation). If Callie’s jaw breaks there is only one thing for her – euthanasia…
We have cared for Callie since 2016 at our Alderwood Brown’s Line and Horner feral cat location. We TNR (Trapped-Neutered-Released) her in 2017 providing her with food and winter shelter. The last time we saw her was April 2019, when construction of a new condo began. Callie disappeared, and sadly we thought she was gone forever.
Last November 2020, we got a call about a very sick tortoiseshell feral cat who was drooling from the mouth and needed immediate attention. It turned out that Callie had moved three blocks away.
We trapped her again and rushed her to THS (Toronto Humane Society) where she was put under anesthesia and oral X-rays were taken. It was determined that her lower jaw is severely damaged, and she needs surgery in order to survive.
To make the sad story a bit sweeter, Cathy and Warren, with their two dogs and a cat, opened their home to Callie while she awaits her dental surgery! Being in a home with friendly and social companion animals is helping Callie to develop her social skills and build her confidence. This is typical for some feral cats, they first bond with people’s dogs and cats and then slowly open up to humans.
Callie’s surgery can only be performed by a veterinary dental specialist due to her lower jaw severe bone loss. We are so lucky that a wonderful veterinarian, Dr. French, will be performing surgery on Callie on May 19 at 8:30 am.
The quote for surgery is $5,000.00 plus additional expenses (e.g. post-surgery meds).
Please help to save Callie’s life by donating to her surgery. It was not her fault she became a feral cat, abandoned, uncared for, mistreated, and a sick kitty. Thank you for your generosity in such a difficult time for everyone. No amount is too small, please. We have learned in a pandemic that together we can accomplish a lot.
Thank you,
