Help Cameron Fight ‘Guillain-Barré syndrome’

Donation protected
The Group 7 and Group 16 rugby league fraternity would be very much aware of the name Cameron Vazzoler. Cameron is a Group 7 junior, representative player, premiership winner, 2018 Michael Cronin Player of the Year, 2022 Group 16 Player of the Year and represented NSW Country in 2019 and 2021 with him crowned Country Rugby League of NSW Player of the Year in 2019.
In 2022 Cameron moved 4 hours out of his comfort zone as a first-time captain/coach with the Bega Roosters of Group 16 and led them to their first 1st Grade premiership since 2014.
Weeks after leading Bega to this premiership, Cameron has gone from the highest of highs to the lowest of lows after being diagnosed with a rare neurological disorder ‘Guillain-Barré syndrome’ (GBS). This is a rare disorder that effects 1 in every 100,000 in which your body’s immune system mistakenly attacks your central nervous system and basically breaks down your body.
Cameron spent 5 days in ICU receiving urgent medical attention and the prognosis was not good. He is a fighter and has the determination to beat this disorder but unfortunately his recovery time is unknown, it’s a waiting game.
His age, fitness and resilience are on his side, but how the nerves come back and how quickly they do is the big unknown. At present he is at home recovering, but he can only walk assisted by a frame. He is unable to work and will be unable to do so for some time.
Cameron will need to relearn the most mundane tasks as his strength improves. Whilst we are optimistic, hopeful and confident that Cameron will beat this horrible disorder, the one thing we don’t know is how long it will take. It may take a few months, but similar cases have taken years to regain full fitness prior to diagnosis of GBS.
To this end we want to help Cameron keep fighting and keep his morale high. He can’t work, has to pay rent, has ongoing medical expenses and the daily costs associated with living a normal life. Anyone who knows Cameron knows he would never ask for help, but this disorder has rocked his world and his entire life. He is one of the most determined individuals you will ever meet and the most passionate rugby league player who inspires, leads and brings everyone around him together.

The Rugby League community prides itself on banding together to help support their own when times get tough. Cam has done so much for Country Rugby League and we ask for your help to support one of our own.

Any help, support or donations you could afford at this time to get this great leader, role model, son, brother & loyal friend back to full health would be greatly appreciated.
