Help Cameron pay for cancer treatment
Donation protected
Hi, I'm Cameron McNary, a husband and father of two, and an actor and playwright from Columbia, MD.
Several months ago I went in for a routine physical. My doctor suggested that, since I'm over 45, I should get a colonoscopy. I did so, expecting it to be fully routine.
It was not. It was Stage 3 colon cancer instead.
I was in surgery within a couple weeks. An intestinal blockage led to a 22-day stay in the hospital, and a rough recovery. I'm midway through 3 months of chemo. I'm doing fine - I feel very lucky, as these things go - but I haven't been able to work, and the medical bills are piling up. We're at risk of losing our home.
I'd like to ask you for two things: first, if you or someone you love is over 45, TALK TO YOUR DOCTOR ABOUT GETTING A COLON CANCER SCREENING. It's quick, it's painless, and it can save a life. I had literally no symptoms; another six months or a year and I would have been facing a very different prognosis. Don't put it off.
The second thing is your kind donation to help us with our medical bills and living expenses. Anything you can give would be deeply appreciated. It really would help make this hard time so much easier to know my family's financial needs were taken care of.
Thank you in advance.
