Help Candice and Kids Honor Tasean's Memory

My name is Ruth Alexander, and I am fundraising on behalf of my co-worker, Candice Tonge-Moore, who recently lost her husband, Tasean Moore (43), 4 months after having their son, Kaycen Moore. Candice and I were both pregnant this past year, and as an experienced mother, she was a wonderful support to me at the office and after having my daughter. I have been heartbroken to follow Candice's journey of her husband's sudden rare illness, and as anyone who knows her would agree, feel there is no one more deserving of support, in light of all of the love, care, smiles, and nurturing she continues to give to everyone around her.
In October 2023, Candice's husband, Tasean, was treated for what seemed to be a stomach virus, but within a week his condition quickly progressed and in response to symptoms of confusion Candice quickly took him to their local ER. At Robert Wood Johnson University Hospital in New Brunswick on October 22nd Tasean underwent a medically-induced coma to facilitate a CAT scan and other testing. In an extremely rare occurrence, Tasean didn't wake up from the medically-induced coma until having a plasmapheresis 3 weeks later. Once awake, Tasean remained unable to breathe on his own and was transferred to a rehab center where he received respiratory support, OT, and PT. On February 2nd 2024 Candice gave birth to her 3rd child, a healthy beautiful baby boy, Kaycen. Still at the rehab, Tasean was officially diagnosed with meningoencephalitis, which is thought to be the cause of his original symptoms. Tasean's condition had been steadily improving and by May was finally able to breathe on his own, but in June was transferred to a new rehab center where he acquired pneumonia and died within two weeks. I am fundraising to support her funeral costs and other expenses of having 3 kids (17yo, 6yo, and 5 months) while grieving the tragic loss of her husband.
With words from Tasean's brother, Trevor - Tasean's untimely departure has left a deep void in the lives of all who knew and loved him. In this time of grief, we want to support Candice and her family by giving Tasean the respectful and heartfelt farewell he deserves. Tasean was a loving husband, devoted father to Taiyan and Kaycen, step-father to Kamari and Khari, respectful son, supportive brother, generous uncle, fun-loving cousin, thoughtful nephew and cherished friend, and his memory will live on in the hearts of everyone he touched.
We are grateful for any support you can offer, whether through donations or keeping Candice and her family in your thoughts and prayers.
With heartfelt appreciation, The Moore Family
