Help care for the dogs at VF Rescue & Sanctuary
Donation protected
Hello, I’m Hailey. I moved to Texas in September of 2021 to start a dog rescue and sanctuary. To put it mildly, I was unprepared for the situation with dogs in Texas. While I intended to start slow, the need was so overwhelming that I basically dived in headfirst and have been trying to help pups ever since.
Right now we are relying strictly on my income, and donations from generous friends like you. We’ve had some losses, that have broken my heart. But they’ve also reminded me why I’m here and what I need to be doing for these pups.
Last night we lost a sanctuary pup, Charlie James. He was amazing and sweet and the tiniest little snuggle bug you’ll ever meet. He crossed the bridge, and my first thought had to be “how am I going to pay for this?”
The Rescue had to spend so much money on Foxy when she was attacked, that it wiped my entire budget out for this month. To be honest it probably knocked out next months budget too.
The six puppies still need their next round of shots and then their third and final round of shots. After the third round each of them needs to be spayed. Mama, Wilma, and Spanky also need to be spayed and neutered. I’m talking close to $2000.
Each of the dogs need their flea and tick treatments as do the Fluffs. And as does Milo who is in foster right now.
And every day I’m wondering how I’m going to pay for it. I work as many hours per day as I can. I don’t ever have a day off. And when I do need to take time like the two days I spent with Foxy, I don’t have any leave or sick time to pay me for that. So that’s just a complete loss of income. In addition they need food and water and treats and yes toys because they are growing puppies and they need to stimulate their brains.
We’ve also spent money on travel expenses to get Buddy Lemon up to New York. And to get Levi down to South Texas. I’m hoping to adopt at least Wilma and Spanky out of state and they will need travel expenses as well.
basically I’ve got thousands of dollars worth of care, travel expenses, basic maintenance, and emergencies.
I would love to get to a point where I’m not stressing over how things are going to be paid for. And that’s why I have set this goal, to try and get ahead of things so that I can get everybody healthy, into a good home, then help some more pups.
Every single amount is so appreciated, I don’t have the words to express just how grateful I am for each one of you who shares, donates, and who sends love to the puppies. You guys are amazing and you’re helping me help these pups here in Texas.
Please visit us on Facebook or Instagram a@VFRescueSanctuary to see how things are going, to see photos of each of the pups, and to see when the babies are available.
Thank you so much for reading this, I know I talk a lot. Or, write a lot, in this case.
