Help CaRenn Recover from Brain Injury
Donation protected
Ca Renn Womack suffered debilitating Generalized-Onset Seizures and Embolic Strokes which led to Cardiac Arrest due to two Heart Failures and loss of oxygen and blood to her brain on December 27, 2024. Ca Renn was resuscitated twice with defibrillation to restart her heart; however, blood and oxygen were deprived of the brain for an extensive period of time. Ca Renn has been hospitalized at Doctors Community Hospital since this tragedy, and her brain has not recovered from the loss of oxygen (Anoxic Brain Injury) and blood. At this time, Ca Renn is not responsive to commands and does not have eye tracking. She has a tracheotomy which helps maintain oxygen and facilitate her breathing and a gastrostomy tube for feeding. Ca Renn shows that she can swallow and try to control the saliva in her mouth. Ca Renn's essential organs are functioning; however, her brain has not recovered at this time. Ca Renn can hear our voices because she shows emotions with facial expressions and she cries when she recognizes our voices. However, she is unable to respond verbally and she has limited movement of her limbs except for sometimes moving her legs. We know that Ca Renn is going to recover; she just needs the brain injury rehabilitation and medical care to help her.
Ca Renn has acquired limited medical insurance through Medicaid. The local and few Brain Injury Rehabilitation hospitals will not approve admittance due to the tracheotomy and suctioning requirements, and limited health insurance. The Doctors Hospital is attempting to discharge her from the hospital with no rehabilitation facility to receive her. The family is being forced to take Ca Renn home and/or locate a local Nursing Home which does not have medical care for brain injury and accept limited Medicaid. The family still needs to get medical professionals (nurses, doctors, tracheotomy specialists, and health aides) and required medical equipment to take care of her and help her recover from the brain injury. The family is trying to get the home suitable to receive
Ca Renn and ensure a safe and hygienic environment. The Maryland Brain Injury Waiver Programs and the other Waiver Programs requirements are limited for the health care that Ca Renn will need. We continue to search for brain injury rehabilitation programs that can approve and receive her.
Please help Ca Renn! Everything is needed for her recovery and medical care, and support is welcomed and appreciated. Ca Renn has two sons, Jaden and Carter, who are waiting for their mother to recover and come home. We don't know the future nor the journey ahead, but we know that God will bring Ca Renn through the storm and restore her brain and body. It's all in God's time, not ours, and we/Ca Renn's family will be with her always.
