Help Carley and Greg Start Over After IDA

Many of you know of the recent devastation Hurricane IDA had on parts of New Jersey. Just one year after my daughter, Carley Pilkington and future son-in-law, Gregory Ternlund moved into their new home, the intense flood waters destroyed so much of inside and outside of the house. IDA poured almost 7 feet of water into their first floor and 2 feet into the 2nd floor family room. From the flood they experienced just one week prior, they thought they were prepared by raising or moving furniture to another level however, water was everywhere and it was inevitable that very little would be salvaged.

We are all very thankful that Greg and Carley were unharmed physically however, the emotional and mental impact is tremendous. Being displaced while their home is being rebuilt will also have a toll on them as time passes. We all know the home and belongings are "replaceable", but one could not watch them sort through their belongings to be discarded without feeling their anguish.

After they had several calls with FEMA, meetings with insurance adjusters, researched available grants and any other possible means of finding financial support, we realize the expenses will far exceed the financial resources available. We decided to take the advice of so many family and friends and start this page. The funds will help them with the uncovered costs of raising the home (engineering firm, house moving firm and general contractor), reconstruction of the inside after completely gutting the 1st and 2nd floor, replace siding and contents of their home. The list can continue on however, these are the majority of expenses that are most immediate.

So many of you have been at the house and have helped with the clean-up and demolition done so far. Whether you have been there or came to their aid in other ways, the outpouring of assistance, thoughts, prayers and donations received have been appreciated. They definitely have felt the love throughout.

We understand that everyone has their own charities and expenses to which they need to fund. If you are able to provide any level of donation to Greg and Carley, it is greatly appreciated. The sooner we can get their house rebuilt, the sooner they, along with their awesome Golden Retrievers Hooper and Kona can return home. (Jamal the turtle too!)
