Help Car-Lite Secure a Bike Lane Sweeper for Long Beach

Hello, I'm Kurt Canfield, member of Car-Lite Long Beach (CLLB). For the last year and a half, Car-Lite has been organizing bike lane cleanups throughout Long Beach to try and make our protected bike lanes safer and easier to use, but the work is labor intensive, and there is always much more to be done.

Enter the tow-behind street sweeper! It's battery-powered and pulled by a bike, and it works extremely well. We are asking you to help us purchase this brand-new-to-the-market bike lane sweeper making headlines around the nation. We think this device will help us clean more streets in Long Beach more efficiently than what we can accomplish via hand-sweeping, and it's a fun way to get the community involved!

We see the sweeper as a community asset and hope to someday make it available to those who are interested in pitching in to help remove dangerous debris from other bike lanes as well, as a way to volunteer and enhance (but not replace) the efforts of Public Works.

We want clean, glass-free bike lanes that anyone can feel comfortable and safe riding on. We think this sweeper will help us achieve that.

Debris in the bike lane is one of the most enduring complaints we hear from local cyclists. This relatively inexpensive tool that is bike-powered is a game changer for those of us who love to ride.
