Help Carlos and Andres Rebuild Their Lives in San Francisco
Donation protected
Hello! My name is Emily, and I am reaching out to our community to support Carlos and his son Andres, a resilient single father and his young son who are facing tough challenges in our beloved city of San Francisco. Their heartfelt story is featured in the documentary Fault Lines which we will screen at GLIDE on March 20 at 6 pm.
When I first saw the film, Carlos and Andres's journey touched me deeply. Despite experiencing homelessness, Carlos says, "San Francisco is our home," highlighting their profound connection to the city even in the hardest of times.
Carlos and Andres will attend the film's screening. I want to give back to them by presenting them with a community gift of financial support at the screening to help them navigate this challenging chapter of their lives.
Why your support matters: The father, Carlos, born and raised in San Francisco, has battled adversity since childhood. Raised in the Mission District, he overcame the challenges of having parents addicted to drugs and the loss of his father during his teenage years. Yet, his love for Francisco remains unshakeable. He is a devoted father, doing everything possible to provide a good life for his son.
The son, Andres, a bright and optimistic fifth-grader at Spring Hill Elementary, mirrors his father's resilience. Despite past hardships, including time spent living on the streets and challenges at school, Andres looks forward to middle school with hope and enthusiasm. He is a die-hard Giants, Warriors and Niners fan.
Recently, Carlos lost his job, making it difficult to afford basic necessities, let alone extras like gifts or school supplies for Andres. They have secured permanent housing at The Margot in SoMa, but their journey towards stability is far from over.
How You Can Help: Any contribution, whether $5 or $500, will significantly impact their lives. By donating, you're not just providing financial support—you're giving hope and showing Carlos and Andres that their community stands with them.
A Word from Filmmaker Nate Houghteling: "I met Carlos and Andres through their case manager at Compass Family Services and was immediately drawn to their story. Carlos’s deep love for San Francisco and his relentless optimism, despite his hardships, along with Andres’s buoyant spirit, are truly inspiring."
