Hello, my name is Mirian Martinez, and I am reaching out on behalf of my cousin, Carlos Martínez Castilla, and our family. Carlos is a survivor of a rare and aggressive cancer (myoepithelial carcinoma). After an intense battle and even a leg amputation, Carlos was in remission—until this year, when we received the devastating news that his cancer had returned, now affecting his kidney. We are raising funds to help Carlos access crucial treatment, improve his quality of life, and keep hope alive as he faces this renewed fight against his disease.

Carlos's journey

Hi, my name is Carlos Martínez Castilla. I am 35 years old, from Peru, and a SURVIVOR of a rare cancer (myoepithelial carcinoma).

On May 29, 2021, my life changed forever. I was walking when a sudden, excruciating pain brought me to the ground—the cancer in my leg had weakened my bones so severely that my femur fractured under the strain. The doctors diagnosed me with a pathological fracture, revealing that cancer was rapidly demineralizing my bones.

Learning that my cancer might have also spread to my lungs was terrifying. But with the unwavering support of my family, I found the strength to face it all. While this journey has been one of immense struggle, it has shown me who and what truly matters in life.

My battle with cancer led to an amputation, as the disease had advanced too far in my leg. Despite everything, I have remained determined to live fully. I train daily, pushing myself to stay in the best shape possible. Recently, I even competed in para-rowing, representing Peru.

In 2024, just as I was building my new life, the cancer returned, this time affecting my kidney. This recurrence has devastated my dreams, as I continue treatments that bring both physical and emotional pain.

I am now seeking an alternative treatment that offers a chance at a better quality of life—a treatment that could give me hope and allow me to rebuild once more slowly. Living each day to the fullest, with gratitude for every moment, I am determined to keep fighting. I have faith that God is guiding me through this journey and will help me find a way.

These treatments are costly, and although my family has been providing immense support. They cannot bear this financial burden alone without other's support. Después de una intensa batalla e incluso la amputación de una pierna, Carlos estuvo en remisión, hasta este año, cuando recibimos la devastadora noticia de que su cáncer había regresado, afectando ahora su riñón. La Historia de Carlos

Hola, mi nombre es Carlos Martínez Castilla. Tengo 35 años, soy peruano y SOBREVIVIENTE de un cáncer raro (carcinoma mioepitelial).

El 29 de mayo de 2021, mi vida cambió para siempre. Estaba caminando cuando un dolor repentino e insoportable me hizo caer al suelo: el cáncer en mi pierna había debilitado mis huesos tan gravemente que mi fémur se fracturó bajo la tensión. Los médicos me diagnosticaron con una fractura patológica, revelando que el cáncer estaba desmineralizando rápidamente mis huesos.

Saber que mi cáncer también podría haberse extendido a mis pulmones fue aterrador. Pero con el inquebrantable apoyo de mi familia, encontré la fuerza para enfrentarlo todo. Aunque este camino ha sido una lucha inmensa, me ha enseñado quién y qué es lo que realmente importa en la vida.

Mi batalla contra el cáncer llevó a una amputación, ya que la enfermedad había avanzado demasiado en mi pierna. A pesar de todo, he seguido decidido a vivir plenamente. Entreno todos los días, esforzándome por mantenerme en la mejor forma posible. Recientemente, incluso competí en para remo, representando a Perú.

En 2024, justo cuando estaba reconstruyendo mi nueva vida, el cáncer regresó, esta vez afectando mi riñón. Esta recurrencia ha devastado mis sueños, ya que sigo en tratamientos que traen tanto dolor físico como emocional.

Ahora busco un tratamiento alternativo que ofrezca la posibilidad de una mejor calidad de vida, un tratamiento que podría darme esperanza y permitirme reconstruir mi vida poco a poco. Viviendo cada día al máximo, con gratitud por cada momento, estoy decidido a seguir luchando. Tengo fe en que Dios me está guiando en este camino y que me ayudará a encontrar una salida.

Estos tratamientos son costosos, y aunque mi familia me ha brindado un inmenso apoyo, no pueden asumir esta carga financiera sin el apoyo de otros.
