August 26, 2024 Update
Hi all,
It’s been a while since the last update! Thank you so much for your faithful support as Carol continues to battle Stage 4 Metastatic Lung Cancer! Carol and Bob just celebrated their 37th Anniversary a few days ago and by the grace of God and your sacrificial help, they’ll have many more!
Here’s a few notes from Carol:
• I’m still working to get well and be fully healed. It’s been over three years of hard work including surgery, immunotherapy (conventional) and integrative (alternative) treatments.
• I had some setbacks over the last 6 months, since the immunotherapy side-effects have caused inflammation and gastrointestinal problems, so it became very difficult to eat.
• Since my immune system has been affected, I’ve also suffered with other afflictions: RSV, shingles, and in May, I spent one week in the hospital with sepsis pneumonia.
• We know that immunotherapy (Opdivo and Yervoy) alone is not a cure all, since at times it seems like it has peaked, which is not unusual since I’ve been on it for two years now.
• We know alternative treatments (weekly high-dose intravenous (IV) Vitamin C and ozone therapy) along with God’s grace and power of prayer are the reasons I’m still here!
Here’s a few highlights of Carol’s testing, protocol and progress:
• Carol’s cancer is a very rare and aggressive form of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) known as pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma (PPC), which accounts for approximately 0.1% of all NSCLC cases worldwide. She needs continual protocol. Conventional medicine alone is not enough.
• Diagnostics include PET scans, CT scans, MRIs and DNA Circulating Tumor Cell blood tests.
• Her conventional oncologist is not convinced there is a path to total wellness and full healing from her cancer.
• Carol and Bob believe, however, that full healing is possible with alternative treatment. An integrative protocol needs to be maintained.
• Alternative treatments, weekly High-dose IV Vitamin C and Ozone therapy, work synergistically with conventional medicine and magnify its effect.
• So much progress has been made, but it’s not completely gone as there still are some mediastinal lymph nodes (area between the lungs) and pulmonary nodules that are continually being monitored.
• The good news is that all the treatment, by God’s grace, is stopping the advance of the disease, but our prayer is that it will be eliminated entirely!
• In fact, the most recent CT scan a few weeks ago showed that the disease has not advanced compared to her previous scan! Treatment is working!
• Carol is working hard to stay on protocol, as well as watching her restrictive diet rigorously.
• Here’s the challenge: the alternative treatments are not funded by medical insurance, so we continue to need your help!
Here are some of the regular treatment costs. A practical and very tangible way to help is to offset one or more treatments! You might even consider becoming a regular partner in Carol’s battle against cancer as she presses on!
• High-dose IV Vitamin C treatment $180.00/treatment. Carol goes 1x per week now based on affordability but aspires to go 2x per week.
• Ozone (HOCATT sauna) $150.00/treatment, which should be 1x per week, I go accordingly based on finances.
• Off Label Meds: $400-450 every 2-3 months
• Supplements: $400/month
• As you can, see, this rigorous protocol adds up quickly and is all-consuming.
• First, prayer is free and it brings these concerns before the throne of God, from whom all healing comes! Please pray for Carol’s full healing and God’s provision to continue her fight!
• Secondly, please consider donating. Any contribution, small or large will make a difference in Carol’s war on cancer! Thanks in advance!
• Love and God Bless you for your generosity and kindness!!
Dec 25, 2023 Update:
Merry Christmas to all!
There are so many of my family and friends of whom I like to keep an update with. My journey is continuing. My last pet scan has shown a new growth on my right lung. The growth was rather quick from my last scan of which this was not seen. So, I’m in the process of waiting to go for a biopsy, which is scheduled after the holidays on January 4. The last 6 months I had a set back in my protocol due to side effects from immunotherapy. I was dealing with gastroparesis, couldn’t eat, therefore had great difficulty taking supplements, getting my smoothies ingested which contain cancer killing additives and I’m down to 105 pounds. I also took a month off from immunotherapy because my lungs were inflamed. Thank goodness this has finally passed and my appetite is back to normal. Just in time to deal with my new cancer issues. I’m back on my full protocol, starting with a raw diet, taking my supplements and I continue to do vitamin c and ozone treatments. I remain hopeful and will continue to be positive and beat this! No other choice!
I again am so thankful for all the support and prayers.
Prayer requests that immunotherapy continues to work. There is a chance it can stop. Prayer for the growth to not be malignant.
God's blessings to all!
Love to all,
Carol
Aug 6 2023 Update:
Hello everyone,
I know it's been a while, so I want to give you all an update on Carol Gann's progress to date. Praise God, it's been a miraculous journey so far, and your donations have been a huge part of this amazing story. Carol, as you know, this past year, has been fighting stage 4 (metastatic) non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) that had spread to both her kidney, liver, multiple lymph nodes, the linings of both lungs and abdominal lining. The type of NSCLC is a KRAS G12c mutation, one known to not have a lengthy prognosis.
Well, since Carol started both conventional and alternative treatments last October, the cancer has disappeared on both her liver and kidney and what remains are a few "freckle-sized" spots on her right lung. Conventional therapy is covered by insurance, but the complementary alternative treatments that promote an environment hostile to cancer growth is very expensive, and Carol has not been working. She needs to continue her fight, so we would like to ask if you would consider donating once again to help her gain a complete victory over her cancer battle. Please share with your friends and family and join this winning team! Every donation makes a huge difference!
(See Carol's personal note of thanks below!)
God Bless,
Kevin & Gayle Gann
From Carol,
I want to personally thank every friend and family member who has stood beside me and supported me thru my cancer journey.
The treatment I have been receiving and protocol I have been on are having a miraculous effect on healing my body. I myself am overwhelmed by the response, and I am so grateful for the healing that has occurred thus far in my body.
The process of getting well has been a very vigorous one. I have always tried to keep a positive attitude/outlook and was always determined to beat cancer and get well. I will never give up.
The treatments and protocol I am on have been a full time job. In the beginning treatments of Vitamin C infusions, ozone treatments and blood irradiation were full force 2-3 times per week. Because of the treatments and healthy lifestyle, I have had miraculous results. And that has only been possible thru support and contributions
The fight is not over. We can never turn our backs on cancer. I will continue with Vitamin C and ozone treatments under the care of my integrative doctors and also conventional medicine which are all working together to achieve results.
I am so grateful for you all. Thank you for your prayers, support, encouragement and most of all your loving friendships. I will continue to get well. I will continue to keep you and your families in my prayers.
Sending much love,
Carol
2022 Text:
If you’re reading this, you know Carol Gann as a friend, relative, mother, grandmother, nanny, business owner, etc. She means so much to so many people. Perhaps she’s touched your life with her gregarious personality, her encouraging words, her caring heart, a timely prayer or her awesome Christmas cookies. Perhaps you know her from church, Picasso’s Pizza or the latest Soul Cruisers’ gig!
Carol, and her husband Bob, her favorite person, have been married since 1987, and have had a wonderful, committed 35-year marriage navigating the ups and downs, joys and challenges of life in both New Jersey and Florida. They have three beautiful daughters and five amazing grandchildren! They have together run businesses, served in ministry and encouraged countless friends, relatives and acquaintances.
Please support Carol as she battles and overcomes a very rare and aggressive form of non-small cell lung cancer (NSCLC) known as pulmonary pleomorphic carcinoma (PPC), which accounts for approximately 0.1% of all NSCLC cases worldwide. We know she can do this with your help! Your contribution to this fund will help support Carol, her husband Bob, and daughter Kelly while their income is reduced, their expenses soar, and their energies are spent on recovery.
Carol’s GoFundMe Campaign
The nature of Carol’s condition means that she and Bob need to dedicate all their time and effort during the next year to focus on medical attention and healing. Carol will no longer be able to work which means lost income. She was denied short-term disability through her job and the state. They will have to live on Bob’s Home Depot salary alone which is modest in the “golden years” when many people have scaled back after 40+ years of work. Thankfully, they have insurance to cover traditional treatments which start immediately and last for six months. But losing $2000 per month (half their income) means expenses will be crushing in the midst of our inflationary economy. To maintain their basic lives during this time of rising expenses and lost income, we are turning to you for support. Any amount will go a long way toward helping - it means so much!
Carol’s Medical Condition
In Spring 2021, Carol first found out she had cancer when it appeared on an X-Ray and then was confirmed by a PET scan. In June 2021, Carol had surgery to remove the cancer from her lung, and they removed a lobe from her lung and 20+ surrounding lymph nodes to ensure they got everything. The prognosis at the time was positive, but in a little over a year cancer has now returned to her lung and metastasized on her liver and right kidney. In September of 2022, she had pain in her side and the doctors first thought she had a kidney infection. When that did not clear up with antibiotics, they did a biopsy on her liver where another spot was identified and confirmed the cancer. A subsequent PET scan confirmed the cancer’s return to her liver, kidney and lung.
After the diagnosis on September 30, Carol and Bob waited the long weekend to speak with their doctors. For this type of cancer, targeted immunotherapy through IV is the recommended course of treatment. The two drugs are called Opdivo and Yervoy (see link below). This powerful combination stimulates an immune system response that effectively targets metastatic NSCLC. Immunotherapy will be supplemented by complementary/alternative treatments recommended by Care Oncology, as listed below. Complementary treatments are out of pocket and expensive! It's a hard road ahead, but Carol is a fighter, AND we are certain Carol will heal through this multi-pronged strategy!
Your Support
Thankfully, Carol started immunotherapy on October 18 - her new full-time job for six months. Given the loss of income and new and increased expenses, Carol and Bob will run into financial strain quickly; your gift to them is key to helping them cover the following costs:
Health and Medical
• Insurance premiums, copays, and deductibles for Carol
• Non-covered medical expenses such as high-dose Vitamin C treatments ($250 per treatment, 3x a week), blood irradiation injections, ozone/oxygen treatments, colonics, top-of-the-line supplements
General (Monthly)
• Mortgage and utilities
• Groceries
• Cell phones
• Gas, insurance and car maintenance
We are all praying and rooting for Carol! We know she will beat this and are grateful to show up for her and Bob to lend a hand to ensure that when she gets to the far side of this battle, they are not crushed under a mountain of debt.
We are so grateful for contributions of any size, sharing of the campaign, or other support you can offer. If you would like to learn more about their situation, please reach out and we will be happy to share with you.
Please send your prayers and kind words, and share this GoFundMe campaign far AND wide (share it as PUBLIC)! Thank you everyone! Love and God bless you all!
