Help Carol With Medical Expenses For lymphedema Surgery

My name is Chris and I am creating this GoFundMe fundraiser for my beautiful mother Carol Walker who needs your help raising money to ease the financial stress of the lymphedema surgery costs we need to cover which is $75,000.

My mother is truly an inspiration in life to myself and others as she has often shown so much resiliency in life being born with spine bifida, this means she has never been able to walk but in life...

She spent a long amount of time using crutches before transitioning to a wheelchair later in life, she has always shown up in life with curiosity, enthusiasm and an ability to give anything a go like skiing with an altered seat and skis for stability, travelling even if this meant struggling to get up steps with her crutches in places that weren’t accessible and being so selfless in the past raising her only son (me) as a single parent while working to provide for us.

The Surgery is to reduce the fluid buildup in her legs, with one leg being exactly 7 litres heavier than the other.

This dramatically impacts her mobility while trying to manoeuvre around with the excess weight causing lower back issues, the lymphedema cutting off nerve connections, blood flow issues, muscle connection issues, inflammation challenges and creating extra fatigue in day to day life.

Carol is a proud and independent woman who wanted to just let it go and just deal with it over time, but I thought why not just put this out into the community to share it with our friends, family and strangers who may be able to help assist us in raising some money to help to go towards this cause.

Throughout this journey, I will be doing challenges such as 48 and 24-hour runs, workouts and hosting events to hopefully get more attention to this cause to hit the goal of $75,000.

If there's anyone in this world who has had a rough time in life, helps others before herself and deserves the help it's my mother Carol.

Unfortunately, this is a new surgery and isn’t offered publicly, she doesn’t have private health care insurance and the insurance may not even cover this due to a few specifics in the fine print of private health insurance.

This surgery price would include the surgery, rehabilitation, hospital stay and expenses.

So if you can help by donating anything you can and sharing this to create more awareness then we would be so grateful.

If we can get 3,000 donations at $25 that is $75,000 and with a world full of kind and wonderful people I know this is possible!
