Help Carol Beat Homelessness: 1st, last & security
In the midst of Covid, Scranton Tech '89 alumni CarolAnn, an all around good egg, lost her job, then lost her beloved father in mid-December 2020. Now CarolAnn is days away from eviction from their apartment & at dire risk of homeless during the freezing NEPA winter.
There was no lease & the landlord "wants to move on" with almost no notice, before CarolAnn has even had a chance to process the loss of her father. Their rent was fully paid.
Like many, my family didn't always have much growing up. Sometimes, it showed. As a student at Scranton Tech, I vividly recall so many kind teachers, especially Mr. McGuigan, Ms. Margle, and of course rock star Vice Principal Karen DeSandis (& others) coming together & donating funds so I could attend the Governor's School for the Arts & have what I needed. I was a transfer student & not even one of their own & they took me in. Hoping to tap into Tech's extraordinary sense of community to help one of our own.
________
The goal for Carol's Fresh Start fund is $2520.
$750 first, $750 last plus a security deposit & a platform fee. Truly the goal is larger.
This is based on average area rent. Carol does not drive & needs to be based somewhere central, ideally, Dunmore. She is a good & stable worker, able to telecommute & just needs a little help from her friends & alumni network to turn 2021 around for that Fresh Start.
