Asking for help. Receiving. Two of the most challenging actions for me. I pride myself on being fiercely independent, doing it on my own. Yet, the larger part of me knows it takes a village. It takes a village to surround you where you are, create a greater space of love and support to hold you, a space for you to grow.
So, here I am. Balancing that fiercely independent part of me, with a big ask, my heart open to receive.
The ask is to help me dig out of the COVID hole I find myself in. As many of you know, Mudita yoga moved locations in 2020. The move was planned sixth months before COVID arrived and shut us down. Our new location opening date was April 1, 2020. Our closing date was April 1, 2023. Those three years took an incredible toll on Mudita, on me. All that had been built through the nine years up to that point began to crumble. Business was cut in half or below. At the same time overhead was double or above. The structure of the business led us ineligible for COVID funding. I was offered an SBA loan and gladly took the $30,000 offered. Try as I might, giving my whole heart and soul, throughout the three years I could not dig out of the hole and build the studio back to be financially stable. As the hole became deeper, my joy began to diminish. The choice to close was hard won, yet I know in my heart it is what was meant to be.
I am now starting over, looking for a job, leaning in to how to bring new offerings into the world. This is exciting. And vulnerable. With no income coming in at this point, the loan and debt to sustain the studio looming over me feels daunting. Many of you have asked how you may help. This is how.
In yoga, the number 108 is sacred. It represents the unity and wholeness of existence, refers to spiritual completion.
Your $108 donation, or any multiplication or division of that number, would be gratefully, reverently accepted, received in joy. Know that each will help eliminate a piece of the financial burden I am facing, each will be kindling for joy to grow!
And within the joyous union, I will offer my thanks through a daily meditation, devoted to you – 108 repetitions of a mantra of abundance and joy.
I am forever grateful for your support. I bow to you. To bring spiritual completion to Mudita yoga in this way would be a deep honoring of all the joy it created.
My heart is open to receive.
