CARSON STRONG
In February of 2022, Carson Paquette was diagnosed with Primary Mediastinal B Cell Lymphoma at just seventeen years old and in his Senior Year of High School. Imagine taking your son to the doctor for symptoms of a cold and being told to go directly to the emergency room and learning your child has a tumor in his chest. Serious gut punch. Carson has maintained a great attitude given the months in and out of the hospital for surgeries and chemotherapy. A physical & emotional roller coaster for all involved. Carson was eventually pronounced “Cancer Free” on June 16th. Thinking the ride was over, family & friends celebrated his victory. Graduating from High School, beating cancer and registering for college. What a year for Carson. Great Parents make great kids.
Unfortunately, the roller coaster ride was not over. Carson and his family were informed that the cancer was back and had formed a tumor in his brain and central nervous system. You would think this would be devastating, and it was to most everyone except Carson. His courage and great attitude uplifted everyone around him. So impressive for a young kid. With many prayers, excellent doctors, and support from so many friends, they successfully removed the tumor. Feeling like Cancer's "Yo-Yo," the Paquette Family received the news that Carson’s cancer was a rare strain that would require extreme treatment measures such as potent Matrix Chemotherapy and Bone Marrow Transplant followed by T Cell treatment. These treatments severely affect the body's immune system, putting Carson at greater risk of infection or disease. Fortunately, Carson is young, strong, and super determined.
Being blessed with the help of great friends, Carson got an appointment at MD Anderson in Houston to confirm his diagnosis and develop the best plan for his treatment. It is obvious that there are many more hills and curves left on this roller coaster ride for Carson and his family. The prayers, well wishes and requests to help have been greatly appreciated. Please keep them coming.
Regular insurance is not set up for these extreme cases. As you can imagine, the out-of-pocket costs mount daily. These financial burdens add to the unnecessary stress this situation creates. Many friends, family, and even people who do not know the Paquettes want to help in any way they can.
