Help Carter Overcome FIP: Support His Treatment

Hi, I'm Danielle Reierson. I started trapping and fixing homeless cats in the Los Angeles area, which led to finding litters of kittens living on the streets. That led to me rescuing litter after litter of kittens, vetting them, and finding them homes. I am not sponsored by any rescue organization, so the funds for this work generally come from me, although I have had some wonderful people help me over the last couple of years with donations of food for my fosters and/or help with some medical issues.

I currently have a foster kitten, Carter (formerly "Fixer") who was recently diagnosed with FIP. FIP was formerly a fatal condition in cats, but is now treatable. Once we realized what Carter had, we started him on the medication right away. He also needed some emergency room visits to remove fluid from his chest cavity (so he could breathe) and stabilize his temperature and oxygen levels. He has been on injections of the FIP medication for 10 days and is doing incredibly well! The medication is expensive, and Carter will need to be on it for 84 days.

I am raising funds, with this GoFundMe, to hopefully pay for his emergency room and vet visits, to pay for the medication he will need for the next 70 days of his treatment, and the testing and vet checkups he will need along the way. Here is the breakdown:

Vet bills so far are $1500 (I have already received $1175 in donations toward this!)

So, the breakdown is:

Medicine estimate for the next 70 days - $1417.00

Vet bills for the treatment period est. - $1000.00

Vet bills paid so far (not yet covered) - $325

That equals $2742.00. I rounded up to $3000 for this gofundme as I'd like to pay back the person who gave me two weeks worth of the medication to get me started, and the person who is coming over every single day to help me give him the injections, if I am able. I am eternally indebted to both of them.
