UPDATE 5/18: Casey’s surgery was successful! His tendon, nerve, and artery were cut, but are repaired. Occupational therapy will start sometime next week and last for about 9-12 weeks. The OT/rehab is about 80% of the recovery so it is imperative it is completed. It is unsure at this point if financial aid will be available for OT, and unfortunately, there was not financial aid available for the surgery, so that will be 100% out of pocket.

UPDATE 5/17: Casey’s surgery has been moved to tomorrow, 5/18 at 1:30pm CST. They are still waiting to hear if he will qualify for financial aid through the hospital, otherwise he will have to pay half of the total cost of the surgery upfront.

Hi everyone, my name is Sarah and I’m organizing this fundraiser on behalf of my good friend, Casey Cabbiness.

On Sunday May 14th, Casey’s home was broken into and he and his dog were attacked. During the altercation, Casey sustained a devastating injury to his hand and needs surgery to repair the flexor tendon of the IP joint of his thumb.

In addition to his injury, Casey’s home was vandalized and his furniture/belongings were destroyed. He will need to find a new place to live ASAP as well as replace what was damaged.

Without medical insurance, these funds will go towards his hospital stay immediately following the incident, his surgery this upcoming Friday, occupational therapy to assist regaining function in his thumb as well as nerve damage sustained, replacing his belongings, deposit/rent in a safe new home, and any bills that he will need covered due to him being out of work for the interim while he doesn’t have use of his dominant hand.
