Help Casey Thomas after his race car accident at Lucas Oil

These are the kinds of things you hope to never have to share but when help is needed, it is needed. My little brother Casey Thomas was involved in an accident on April 20th at Lucas Oil Speedway. He is passionate about racing and has worked so hard to get to where he is in the sport. Going into lap one of the heat race in his division he found himself rolling multiple times and his car hitting the wall and fence at the track only to land on his roof trapped in his car. The safety crew was able to get his car turned back over and extract him from it so he could safely get to the hospital for them to evaluate his injuries. He was taken by ambulance to Bolivar then flown to Springfield hospital. He has suffered a break in his c6 vertebrae in his neck, a severe concussion, and possible other injuries that we are not aware of yet as we await more tests and scan results.

At this time, he will not be able to work for a minimum of 6-weeks or more. He is the sole provider for his wife, Alicia, and 3-year old daughter, Olivia. The timing of his accident comes unfortunately as Olivia has special needs and will be having a major surgery in 3-weeks to help her decrease the number of seizures she has been having. She has an extremely rare disorder known as 1q44 deletion syndrome that affects her in many ways. She is one of less than 1000 known cases with this syndrome.

We are asking for assistance for this amazing young family to help alleviate as much financial burden as possible from both medical bills and the time Casey will have to take off work. Casey and Alicia are both hard-working and such amazing parents to little Olivia and we are hoping this assistance will help them navigate both Casey and Olivia’s healing journey.
