Help Cassandra, Peaches, and Bear find a home

Right now my friend Cassandra and her companions Peaches the pitbull and Bear the cat are all living outside after she lost her housing when her landlord sold the house she was living in. The recent heat wave in Pittsburgh has made her situation even more challenging as she struggles to take care of herself and them without being able to access cooling centers on 90+ degree days.

They deserve safe and stable housing, and any money raised through this GoFundMe will go towards securing that for them.

Cassandra isn’t able to utilize traditional shelters since they would require her to surrender Peaches and Bear, and she’s committed to protecting them and keeping them out of the animal shelter system. She’s been able to get them regular veterinary care thanks to the Street Dog Coalition and Humane Animal Rescue of Pittsburgh, and they’re both incredibly happy and healthy living with her.

She is currently working with Allegheny Links and Operation Safety Net, but both organizations only offer temporary shelter. Her Section 8 housing voucher application is at the end of a long list of folks looking for help.

Our goal is to raise $15,000 in order to cover one year of rent for Cassandra so that she can focus on taking care of herself and her little family, and working towards self-sustainability. All funds minus processing fees taken by GoFundMe will go directly to her.
