Help Catherine While She Recovers from Cancer
Donation protected
This week, my sister Catherine (Squillante/Giro/Gonet) and I were in Florida, visiting with our mother who has terminal small cell lung cancer and is nearing the end of her life. It has been a very hard, sad, trying time but we have been strong for her and each other.
But yesterday, we were dealt another crushing blow. Catherine has herself been diagnosed with cancer that needs immediate surgery on May 12 and quite likely a second surgery later this summer. Her oncologist tells us she will have 4-6 weeks of a "very difficult recovery." Her mobility will be severely limited and her ability to work her two jobs will be dangerously impacted. We don't yet know what her treatment plan post surgery will be, but are trying to plan for those contingencies as well.
Catherine works as a corporate recruiter in the IT field, but she works on contract. When she doesn't work, she doesn't get paid. Like so many others, she and her wife, Dee, have already been struggling financially during the pandemic, so they both took on second jobs. Catherine will not be able to work this job, either, during her recovery. You can imagine how worried they are about the future.
Thankfully, they do have health insurance.
However, they have an outrageously high $15K deductible, and the medical bills are sure to mount quickly.
I am asking you to help my beautiful, brave sister cover her lost wages and create some peace of mind for her during a time when she urgently needs to be focusing on her own body and healing, and not worrying about paying the bills.
We are so grateful for any help. Thank you. Thank you.
