Help Catina Get Mobile!

Hello everyone! My name is Crystal Martin. I am the older sister of Catina (Tina)
Harrison. Tina was born in 1972 with a condition known as Cerebral Palsy (CP). CP is the
most common motor disability in childhood that affects both the brain and muscles. This prevents the affected person by limiting their ability to have normal activity of their limbs, such as being able to talk or walk. When Tina was born, doctors were not as educated on CP and were still learning how to treat children with her condition. She spent her early days in this world in the ICU where her heartbeat stopped beating twice, clinically being announced deceased. However, Tina was able to survive those tough and long days in the ICU. Given the severity of her condition, medical professions did not believe that she would live to see age 4. But by the grace of God, we celebrated Tina’s 50th birthday in November of 2022! At 50 years young, Tina remains a very loving, caring, compassionate, high spirited, and fun YOUNG lady!

Caring for Tina has been a challenge over the last 50 years. She requires attention around the clock as she cannot care for herself due to the impacts of having CP. My parents bathe, feed, dress, and care for Tina in every aspect around the clock. But what has become a struggle for my parents as they have retired and grown older is their ability to transport her around the city of Indianapolis. It has become increasingly difficult for them to be able to transport her to and from her Adult Day Program (adult care for adults with severe physical needs), her many doctor’s appointments, and the things she loves to do, such as shopping, going out to eat, visiting family members, and most importantly, going to church. My parents can no longer pick her up to put her in the vehicle to go to these places. This leads us to our request from friends, family, and the GoFundMe community.

Our ask is from you all is to please help us raise $50,000 in monetary gifts to help us purchase Tina a wheelchair accessible van. This would enable us to continue to move around freely with Tina so that she can experience some of the normalcy that most of us can privilege without being hindered by the physical health of my parents who are no longer able to lift her in and out of a car. This would mean a great deal to her to not have to continue to be isolated in the home because of the difficulty of being transported. Donations of all kinds will be greatly appreciated as we seek to meet our goal of $50,000. We would greatly appreciate any help.

Psalms 139; 14- I will praise You for I am fearfully and wonderfully made; Marvelous are Your works. And that my soul knows very well. God Bless you all and thank you for taking the time to learn about Tina’s story!

Sincerely,
Crystal Martin
