Michael Anthony Collins, known to friends and family as Mike and Opa, passed away on August 29, 2024, at the age of 61 after a decline in his health.
Born on September 26, 1962, in Stuttgart, Germany, to Larry and Hannelore Collins, he was a long-time resident of Garden City before moving to Midway, GA.
Mike will be remembered for the remarkable life he led, filled with achievements, adventures, and a real love for fishing and his Alignment Shop. For his knowledge and wisdom he shared, his kind spirit and loving nature, and his unique sense of humor and laughter.
He graduated from Windsor Forest High School in 1981 and from Savannah Vocational Technical College for Diesel Mechanics.
Mike is survived by his wife, Cecilia (C.C.) Collins. They were married for 24 years and have been together for 33 wonderful years.
His stepson, Earl (Kim) Riser, and his brother-in-law, Charlie (Misty) Argo, whom he helped raise from an early age.
Grandchildren: Jessica, Dylan, Kelsey, Halie, Stephanie, Treza, Jordin, Allora, Kaylynn, James, and Chase. Great-grandson: Apollo. Many nieces and nephews and the extended family of kids who all called him Opa.
Mother: Hannelore Collins. Brother: Jerry (Felicia) Collins.
He is preceded in death by his father, Larry Collins, and sister, Cathy Collins.
Memorial Service planned for September 28th @ 4 in Midway at his home.
More details regarding the memorial service will be provided by the family at a later date.
