Help Celebrate Francis and Frank Yellow's Lives

It is with resounding sadness that we must share that our beloved relatives: Francis J. Yellow (Wanbli Mayasleca Wokiksuye) and Frank J. Yellow (T'a H'upakglake Oyate) have walked on. To celebrate them and usher them forward, we will be hosting a Memorial and Wiping of the Tears Ceremony at Green Grass in South Dakota on the Cheyenne River Reservation on August 11th, 2024 on the last day of the International Sundance.

Frank J. Yellow: 3/28/80 - 12/2/2022

In their cumulative time on this planet both men were indomitable spirits and Men of the People. Wherever they were found they brought humor, solidarity, and love to friends, family, and complete strangers who would soon count themselves among those two groups. Francis was a renowned Maker and known artist. He has work in numerous museums as well as numerous public Art installations.) Frank was known for his generous nature, his poetry and puns. From South Dakota to the streets of 38th and Chicago Ave. Minneapolis MN, we know the love held in the hearts of community, friends, and family for both Francis and Frank.

To celebrate them and to bring the communities together, we are asking for the help of renting facilities, paying for catering, and arranging transportation for immediate family / community for an event to be held on August 11th 2024 in South Dakota.

Community, friends and family of Francis, Frank and the family are welcome to arrive in Green Grass, Eagle Butte South Dakota between the 7th and 10th of August, 2024. There will be a Wiping of the Tears ceremony, a feed, and giveaway on the 11th at Green Grass with a separate ceremony to spread our relatives ashes in the Black Hills to follow.
