Help Chad & Kim Rebuild their Home

We are raising money in a variety of ways to knock our house down and rebuild.  Chad & I have been living with mold in our home for quite some time now. It started a couple of years ago when it grew in our bedroom and eventually made its way into our mattress. We took up the floors, found the problem and took care of it at the time, but not before it took a toll on our respiratory system. At the end of 2021, we knew full well that we had an issue again. We tested, and sure enough, we had been breathing it in through our HVAC system. After much discussion over the health issues that have affected me specifically, we have decided to knock down our house and re-build. Unfortunately, our insurance denied our claim to get rid of the mold and the cost to do it ourselves; without knowing whether it would just resurface, rebuilding seems the most logical solution. However, our financial resources are limited. We will be doing things step by step as we save money and do most of the work ourselves over time. Our gym business was hit hard during Covid, so getting a loan is not looking promising based on our last two years' financials.

 

So this is our starting point. We do have some money set aside that we are using for the initial permitting, engineering, tree removals, and the beginning of knocking down the house. Any money raised from Casino Night will likely go towards the foundation. We are lucky to have a trailer to live in and a small portion of the add-on house that isn't affected and will not have to be on a strict timeline in that respect.

 

Looking ahead, if any of our friends and family know contractors, plumbers and electricians specifically that might be interested in trading work... I have lots of painting experience! I'm trading a kitchen cabinet remodel with an architect for the plans and would love to talk to anyone interested in something similar! Not limited to kitchens, I also have lots of experience doing entire homes inside and out. Chad and I both have landscaping experience as well! Oh, and fences, we can do those too :)
