Help Chadderton Swimming Club Survive

Chadderton ASC is 126 years old and is in its third Chadderton pool named after our and Britain's greatest ever swimmer Henry Taylor who won eight Olympic medals ( 3 gold, 2 silver,3 bronze). Due to Covid 19 the club has had to make huge changes whilst still trying to keep our members , coaches and pooltime. We have lost members , and had to pay out an extra £320 per month in pool hire fees. We have been losing about £600 per month in total. Whilst we have been able to cover these losses for several months we estimate that we can keep going for about another four months when the pool re-opens before we have to make some serious changes and lose pooltime . Our 125th Anniversary celebrations were ruined by covid and our usual fund raising events have been seriously curtailed. At this moment in time the club members (swimmers and parents) are doing a fundraising event called 21-4-1-21 . Basically, this means we are all trying to do 21 kilometres ( Swimming, walking, running or cycling etc)for each of the four weeks of January 2021. We are all getting sponsors and hoping to make a big financial difference to help the club. Myself and my wife have so far completed two weeks walking and rowing or cycling ( on a machine) and covered over 21 km for both weeks. We are both life members of the club having been involved for over thirty years and both our sons have competed for the club for over twenty years and are also life members.
I will also mention that both myself and my wife have some physical issues which make this challenge more difficult for us . My knees are arthritic and painful and she has had two replacement ceramic hips for over ten years. We are doing our best to help the historic club that we love and ask that if you can , please make a contribution ( no matter how small) to help us continue our good work for the community of Chadderton.
