(Please note that monetary contributions to the Gofundme will be collected by Chala’s mother - Sophia Rattigan on Chala’s behalf)
Introduction:
Hello, my name is Jason McNee, and I am reaching out to you on behalf of my dear wife and friend, Chala McNee. Chala is a loving wife, daughter, sister and friend, who is facing a critical health challenge that requires immediate neurosurgery to relieve dangerous intracranial pressure. We are asking for your support to help cover the costs of this life-saving procedure and her recovery.
The Situation:
Recently, Chala, a beautiful young Jamaican woman, was diagnosed with a serious condition that has caused elevated intracranial pressure (ICP). Subsequently, a MRV showed that venous sinus stenosis of the right vein. This condition has led to severe headaches, vision problems, fainting spells and other debilitating symptoms. After numerous doctor visits, tests, and consultations, it has been determined that the only viable option to alleviate her symptoms and prevent further complications is urgent neurosurgery. Unfortunately, this particular surgery is not often performed in her home country of Jamaica, and so she has been referred to the specialists at the Jackson Memorial Hospital, in Miami, Florida - the United States of America. This life-changing surgery is scheduled for October 11, 2024.
The cost of the pre-operational procedure (cerebral angiogram) and the surgery and aftercare is over JA$3.5 Million (US$22,500.00), which does not include any additional cost that she may incur from her stay at the hospital. This is a sum we cannot afford on our own, and as a Jamaican foreigner, we are required to pay all of the surgical and related hospital fees before the scheduled surgery.
Why We Need Your Help:
The cost of this neurosurgery, along with the required pre-surgery tests, hospital stay, post-operative care, and medication, is overwhelming. Unfortunately, insurance is not an available option as a non-resident of the United States. Chala is unable to work consistently due to her condition, and our resources have been depleted as we struggle to meet monthly living expenses, and other extenuating financial demands.
That’s why we are turning to friends, family, and kind-hearted strangers for help. Every donation, no matter how small, will bring Chala one step closer to the surgery she desperately needs to relieve her pain and protect her future and as you can understand, time is of the essence.
How Your Donation Will Be Used:
Your generous contributions will go directly towards:
- Neurosurgery Costs: Covering the cost of the surgery itself, which includes the surgeon's fees, anesthesia, and operating room charges.
- Hospital Stay: Payment for the hospital stay following the surgery to ensure Chala receives proper post-operative care.
- Pre and Post-Surgery Medical Expenses: This includes any required tests, follow-up appointments, physical therapy, and medications.
- Living Expenses During Recovery: Since Chala will be unable to work for some time, your support will also help cover basic living expenses during her recovery period.
Why Your Support Matters:
Chala is a vibrant and caring individual who loves God and has always been there for others in times of need. In 2022, Chala established the “OneOne Coco Scholarship” programme, providing scholarships, school supplies and exam tools to nearly 100 students in her home parish of St. Ann, Jamaica.
She now needs your help to get through this challenging time. Your support will not only help her get the surgery she needs, but will also provide her with hope and strength to face this battle.
How You Can Help:
- Donate: Any amount you can give will make a significant difference. No contribution is too small.
- Share: Please share this campaign with your friends, family, and social networks to help spread the word.
- Send Love and Prayers: Your emotional support and prayers are equally valuable and greatly appreciated.
Conclusion:
Thank you from the bottom of our hearts for taking the time to read Chala’s story of urgent medical need. We are incredibly grateful for any support you can offer during this difficult time. With your help, we can give Chala the chance at a healthier and happier life.
Jason McNee
