Help Chan Recover in Peace
Donation protected
Hi everyone. This is a friend of Chan’s writing on his behalf asking for community aid and support.
A month ago, Chan suffered a stroke at home and was able to ask his sister to call 911 for him. He suffered bleeding in his brain stem but was told he was lucky to catch it early. He’s struggling with mobility and basic motor functions currently, but he is also struggling mentally, as he is an artist and depends on fine motor skills for his career and livelihood.
If you’ve ever had the joy and pleasure of meeting Chan, you’ll know that he is one of the most open and inviting people you will ever meet. Whether you’re an old friend, or a new acquaintance, he is equally as kind and enthusiastic to see you. He is always happy to chat, and always the first one to offer assistance. It breaks all of our hearts to see him in his condition, but also we are so very grateful that he is still here to light up our lives.
Chan is a tattoo artist and a merch artist who frequently attends cons to sell his art and to have to take an estimated year or so for recovery and rehab is a debilitating financial blow. Any donations to this fundraiser will go towards living expenses and lost wages because he can’t work while healing. We’re not sure what the timeline is, and the doctors estimate a full recovery, but we want to make sure he doesn’t have to worry about monetary expenses so he can fully focus on his health.
I was able to speak to Chan and get some rough details of his yearly finances. His job pulls in roughly 40k a year as well as maybe 3-4k from selling art at conventions. As we live in Vancouver, one of the most expensive cities in Canada, every dollar counts. I know that with job insecurity and everything going on in the world, money is tight all around.
So thank you for taking the time out of your life to read just a small snippet about a very kind loving and talented person and I hope that this reaches people who are able to help in any way shape or form.
He also said he wants it to be known that he suffered his stroke while playing Valorant and says they owe him money.
