Help Changemaker Nantume continue her studies

Nantume Masturah is eighteen and lives in rural Uganda in a one-room house with five brothers and her father. She is a remarkable young woman working to transform her community by empowering women and girls. In 2019, Nantume received a scholarship to study at Xi'an Liangjiatan International School in Xi'an, China. Because of the global pandemic and border closures, she could not physically attend XLIS but completed the IB Middle Years Programme through XLIS online. She gained notoriety for her culminating MYP Personal Project that addressed period poverty. Nantume has touched the lives of hundreds of girls through her project, where she teaches young women to make period pads and distributes them to local schools. Nantume received a Dr. Siva Kumari MYP Innovation Grant, and all the money went to fund her project to support girls.

Nantume continued her education last year through a scholarship to the innovative online School of Humanity. And now, Nantume has an incredible opportunity to study outside of Uganda. Nantume has received a bursary to complete the IB Diploma Programme at the prestigious Ridley College in Ontario, Canada. The generous bursary will include boarding, tuition, and insurance for Nantume's final two years of secondary school. Nantume's family does not have the means to support her with the other expenses; flights to and from Uganda at the start of the year and holiday time, money for winter clothes and boots, internet charges, spending money, and university application fees for the coming year.

Can you help Nantume make this dream of finishing high school a reality? Nantume will be the first person in her family to complete high school. She aspires to attend University after graduating from Ridley College to become a human rights lawyer. Nantume wants to create laws that support the rights of women and children. Please donate and support Nantume's further studies so she can make a difference in her community and the world.
