Chanler Needs A Heart Transplant, Please Help!
Chanler Hagens a seemingly healthy 24 year old with a bright future ahead of her was concerned when her continuing symptoms of what she thought was a sinus infection progressed. On June 24th, after having trouble breathing and chest pains that would not alleviate, her parents Illiyana and Jeramey Gibson brought her to the ER. Chanler had
what was suspected as being a virus attack her heart. Chanler’s symptoms progressed and worsened. After several test, procedures and so much blood drawn on her tiny body the diagnosis came back as Chanler having Myocarditis and was in heart failure with 20% of her heart working. She has NO blocked arteries which is a great thing. However her poor heart is tired and isn’t doing the job it needs to. She was discharged on July 1 and sent home with a strict diet, and a lifevest which monitors the heart and will shock it back into place if needed be. Upon being at home, It was hard for Chanler to keep food down as she has fluid build up and stomach pain. Chanler had her follow up appointment and was immediately sent to the ER for an elevated heart rate, low oxygen, and was losing color in her hands and feet. At this point she was in Cardiogenic shock. A heart cath was performed and saw a decreased in her heart function. At this point her heart went down to 10%. A ballon pump was placed and once she was stable she was air lifted to 38th street Seton Main. In attempt to wean Chanler off the ballon pump her heart and body decreased drastically and her body was now in septic shock. Her heart and body couldn’t tolerate the weaning off of the balloon which has caused her precious body to decline drastically. Chanler is now on an ECMO machine which is doing most of the work for her to give her heart and organs a rest to work up to a transplant. Chanler NEEDS a transplant and this is the only option. She has already been through so much. She is so tired and is in so much pain, but God is good and will heal her. This journey is just beginning and we need your help. Expenses are adding up quickly. She faces a lifetime of medication, treatment and hospital visits. The cost will be significant and your generous donations and on going prayers and support are very much appreciated. Please please please help my baby sister. Chanler is truly something special and has such a bright future ahead of her.
We now have two other ways to help with Chanler’s medical care and expenses. Our parents have set up a Venmo and Cash App and all funds will go directly to Chanler’s care. Thank you again for all the love and support during this time.
