Help Char Beck Recover

On Tuesday, May 9th, while Char was in Ecuador visiting friends he suffered a large stroke, killing 50% of the brain cells in the right hemisphere of his brain (see red coloring in the brain scan).

His stroke came as a shock to his family and friends as Char is one of the most fit and healthy people we know.

Char recovered enough in six days to leave the ICU in Ecuador and take three international flights back to Seattle. Upon arriving in Seattle, Char was readmitted back into the hospital for further testing, to expedite meeting with a neurologist, who generally book out months for out-patient visits. Currently, Char and Julia are awaiting more answers from a multitude of tests. We still do not know the cause of the original blood clot but recent tests have shown that his body continues to create more blood clots.

What we do know is that Char's body has been significantly impacted by this event. His recovery will require intensive in-patient physical therapy for weeks and more outpatient physical therapy for many months. Char will have to dedicate all of his time to his recovery.

Julia, while also having to manage Char's appointments and doctor visits, is in school and is determined to finish this semester. With Char focused on his recovery, they will have no income for the next six months, at least.

The goal of this fund is to pay for their emergency flights, emergency medical expenses not covered under their Health Sharing program (CHM), their living expenses for 6 months, Julia's final semester of school, and an intensive physical therapy program for Char that will go beyond what their insurance can cover.
