Help Charlie Pay the Bills During Chemo

Hello friends and family. My name is Roxy, and I’m here on behalf of one of my best friends Charlie, former fellow Naval Officer and volunteer firefighter in Vermont who is currently battling breast cancer. She has recently been diagnosed with stage II breast cancer and just found out she will need chemotherapy. While the news has been difficult, Charlie is determined to survive and live a better, kinder, and more giving life.

Unfortunately, due to the high chance of recurrence and the need for chemotherapy, Charlie faces not only the physical challenges of treatment but also financial hardships. As she embarks on this difficult journey, Charlie will be unable to attend school as planned this semester, losing the vital GI Bill funds she was relying on for her living expenses. This unexpected turn of events means she will be struggling to pay her bills while undergoing chemotherapy and awaiting the sale of her house.

In addition to the financial strain, Charlie is also exploring the option of cold capping, a method that involves using a freezing cold hat to freeze the hair follicles and potentially save her hair during chemotherapy. However, this treatment is not covered by insurance, adding further financial burden to an already challenging situation. Losing one’s hair can be a very victimizing feeling, and Charlie hopes to be able to save hers in order to maintain some small amount of normalcy in the face of this fight.
