Imagine you’re 29. You’ve just become a Father for the first time to a handsome baby boy, and recently proposed to your beautiful girlfriend. Life is good and there is so much to look forward to! One day, you start to not feel so well, and gradually you feel progressively sicker, until you decide to go get checked out at the doctor. Imagine your doctor calls you after your lab work comes back and tells you that you have a life-altering illness, you have CML - Chronic Myeloid Leukemia. CML is a type of cancer of the bone marrow and blood that can cause severe weakness, fatigue, pain, excessive bleeding and bruising, and increase the risk for infection. Imagine you’re 29 and you’ve just received this diagnosis. Instead of looking forward to planning your wedding and watching your son grow, you’re planning for how to fight cancer, to fight for your life. You can no longer work because you’re too ill. You find yourself having difficulty supporting your family and paying your medical bills, including the medication (that costs hundreds of dollars a month) that could save your life and make the cancer more manageable. My wonderful friend Charlie Flores finds himself in this very situation. I’ve created this fundraiser to help raise funds and support for Charlie and his family, in the hopes of making a very difficult situation even a little bit easier.
