Help Charlie Find His Voice
Donation protected
Hello, my name is Vanessa and I'm Charlie's mom.
Charlie has autism and apraxia. Apraxia is a motor speech disorder that makes it hard to speak; I explain it as dyslexia for speech. Charlie has all the words in his head, they just get jumbled coming out.
Charlie is 5 and has a vocabulary of less than 10 words. He communicates mostly through gestures and some sign language. Our insurance has approved us to get a speech device to help supplement Charlie's speech. This device will help him communicate through use of pictures to speech. The device costs about $8,000.
Thankfully, our insurance is covering most of the cost, but we still owe $1,500 out of pocket.
I'm asking you to help Charlie find his voice. He's come such a long way since we first started our adventure into autism and apraxia 3 years ago. Please, join us on our journey, our tour guide is amazing!
