Help Charlie the Crossing Guard

Hello! I’ve been a Hubert Humphrey mother for the past few years, and I’ve come to know and love our wonderful crossing guard, Charlie. He dutifully keeps our children safe before and after school at the Concordia-Academy Hills intersection. You may not know this, but he also guards at Dennis Chavez each day. He makes my kids feel loved and special, calling each one by name, greeting us with a smile or high-five, and handing out tasty treats. We love Charlie and he loves us.

 

This year has been a struggle for Charlie. You might have noticed his oxygen tubes - a new accessory after coming down with COVID last November. COVID has permanently scarred his lungs and heart. He’s been having trouble breathing this fall, and we’ve missed him as he’s been hospitalized and ill. Let us rally around our wonderful community friend and support Charlie and his family as he works to recover.
