Help Charmaine Rebuild After Trauma
Donation protected
In the early morning hours of Saturday, April 6, my 69 year old mother, Charmaine, was a victim of a break in to her home and was physically and sexually assaulted by a masked perpetrator. As she lay asleep on her couch, as she has done since the unexpected passing of my sister, Amy, 6 years ago, she was awakened to masked man standing above her whose first words were “I am here to rape you.” He proceeded to physically assault her, violently push her to the ground, remove her pajamas, remove his own pants, and attempted to sexually assault her.
If you know me you most likely also know my mother and you know that she is one of the sweetest and kindest souls you could ever meet. If you don’t know her, within 5 minutes of meeting her you wouldn’t be a stranger and she’d most likely would know 75% of your life story, and tried to give you a cat or 5. Her love for God‘s creatures, specifically, cats, is well known throughout the community. She spent years in her garden and yard creating a sanctuary where neighbors would congregate to talk and spend time together. She is beloved to all who meet her. Unfortunately she no longer feels safe in her own home and must move ASAP due to this traumatic and awful event. Her home is no longer a safe haven and only brings back awful memories.
My hope is that we can come together as a community to help my mother not only rent a new home, but to hire movers, prepare her home for sale, and prepare for the many unexpected cost associated with the traumatic event she endured. Please help show my mom that there is still love, kindness, and compassion within our society. Please share donate and send well wishes and prayers for her healing and recovery. And please be diligent about your own safety.
