Help Charmaine Secure a Stable Home

Donation protected
In honor of the love Larry Turner shared with Charmaine Buchholz and the lasting impact they both have made on the community.

My mom, Charmaine (62), is currently facing an overwhelming and unexpected financial burden following the passing of Larry Turner, with whom she shared 11 years of her life. Together, they were building a future in their home, but now, with his passing, she is in need of long term stable housing.

Adding to this burden, Charmaine has been struggling with persistent shoulder pain from a fall last year, which was recently diagnosed as a torn meniscus and will require surgery. As if that weren’t enough, just two weeks ago, she was rear-ended by another driver, resulting in back and neck pain that now necessitates physical therapy.

These compounding difficulties have made it increasingly hard for her to find stable work, especially given her existing disability, which makes it difficult for her to stand for long periods of time. These mounting medical concerns have only deepened the stress she is experiencing.

Charmaine is deeply distraught and uncertain about her next steps or where she will find her next home. She and Larry were a team. Larry owned a flooring company in Yucaipa, and together they were deeply involved in the community, always ready to lend a hand to those in need. Before Larry’s passing, they spent significant time on his property in Durango, Colorado, where they were building their future home. I visited them in 2020 and witnessed firsthand the community they were creating there. They were always willing to help others where they could and were eager to share their time and space with those around them.

To help her secure a stable and long-term housing solution, we are raising $30,000 to purchase a piece of land and a tiny home, allowing her to live out the rest of her life without the constant worry of where she will call home. These funds will also help cover the costs of moving and relocating her and her belongings.

My mom has always faced life’s challenges with grace and determination, but this situation has left her emotionally and physically drained. The thought of her being uprooted from her home has been incredibly distressing for our entire family, and we are reaching out for support to help her through this challenging time.

Any donation, big or small, would make a world of difference. If you can’t contribute financially, sharing this campaign with others would be immensely helpful. We are incredibly grateful for your kindness and support during this difficult time
