Help Chef Kelsey Get Back on Her Feet

Donation protected
After closing up at Coquette Restaurant on Sunday, November 21st, Kelsey was biking home through the Warehouse District of New Orleans when an unidentified black SUV hit her and broke her leg. The SUV fled the scene without hesitation or care for Kelsey. She called 911 but received no response. Thankfully, five kind New Orleanians stopped and helped move Kelsey from where she lay in the street to her partner's truck. Kelsey was taken to the hospital where she received surgery nine hours after her arrival. The police arrived 12 hours after she was admitted to the hospital. Kelsey responded well to her first surgery and spent the next two nights with loved ones and nurses keeping a watchful eye. A second surgery has been scheduled for early December with a lengthy recovery time expected to follow.
In order to return to her position as the Executive Chef at Coquette and her many other passions, Kelsey will undergo physical therapy for no less than two months. Kelsey's number one means of transportation is cycling and she cares passionately about bike safety. On Halloween Kelsey completed a half marathon, sparking her passion for long distance running, which she will return to when she is back on her feet. With her recent promotion to Executive Chef at Coquette, this injury comes at an exceptionally difficult time.
Since the injury is impacting Kelsey as we move into 2022 she faces twice the yearly deductibles to cover the costs of her stay in the hospital, surgeries , and physical therapy. We are asking for your financial assistance to address the overwhelming cost of this emergency. If you're unable to contribute financially, please spread the word about this campaign and engage the community in tracking down the black SUV that hit Kelsey and fled the scene. The crash occurred on Camp St. and Girod at about 12:15am on Monday, November 22nd, and Bike Law is accepting any information or tips.
Thank you!
