Help Chelsea with medical bills and lost wages
My name is Michelle Sabey. I’m not too sure what to say or how to start, so here goes with saying way too much, because that’s how I do.
Some of you may know my little sister, Chelsea Adams. She is a very loved and valuable daughter, sister, parent, friend and new grandparent.
If you or your family lived in Riverton any time over the last 20 years, you may have come across her while she’s doing the job she loves. She’s a nurse there. A darn good one too. She sincerely loves and cares about her patients and her residents. She probably tended you when you were at the clinic, she might have assisted while you gave birth at the hospital, she may have loved, and cared for your parent or grand-parent during her years working at the nursing home. She helps people who are at their most vulnerable and now she and her family could use a little help too.
She came down with covid on August 20th. She has some underlying health conditions that have rendered her immune system very weak, despite having been vaccinated. We treated her at home as long as we were able but she wasn’t getting better and it became apparent that she needed medical care. Our family has been truly blessed along the way and she has a wonderful care team at the University of Utah hospital, where she’s been since the 30th, last Monday. She was moved from their covid ward to the ICU on Saturday the 4th.
We would like to send out a very heartfelt thank you to all the people who have been praying for her and thinking about her and asking about her. It means a lot to our family. She is so loved. The prayers and blessings are working. Her body has been getting a little better. She’s not out of the woods yet but all improvements are such a blessing. We’re all so very thankful.
She doesn’t know we’re doing this go fund me and she would probably tell us not to. But we love her so much and if we can do anything to help her we want to.
Now the ask; my hope here is that together we might offer her and her family some financial help. I don’t have much, heck, nobody has much, but if lots of us can pitch in a little bit, it will add up quick and help their family a lot. She started a new nursing job not long ago and I don’t think she has any available paid sick or vacation time to use. She’s probably not going to be able to return to work for a while even after she’s out of the hospital. Her husband, Jeffrey, is such a wonderful man, he’s been at the hospital every day with her and is also missing out on going to his work. Their hospital bills are going to be outrageous. (We’re so blessed she was able to get in at all, and to such a great hospital has been a tremendous blessing).
Anything anyone can offer is very much appreciated; whether it’s shares, prayers, thoughts, good vibes, or your hard earned dollars. Thank you so much, everyone, for everything.
We hit our original $15K goal!! Thank you so, so much everyone! I’m humbled and excited that we did it!
Chelsea probably won’t be back to work for a while, they’ve both been off work for 70-something days. Chelsea is at a newish job and I’m sure she didn’t have much of a sick or vacation bank. I’m hoping they don’t have to stress about paying their bills or keeping their home after just worrying about Chelsea’s life for the last three months. They need a break.
