Help Chelsie Crush Covid

At the beginning of March 2020, Chelsie Turrubiartez was a healthy, typical 22 year old nursing school student who was worried about upcoming tests, completing clinical hours, and working night shifts as a CNA. She was looking forward to graduating in May as a registered nurse, a dream she has worked tirelessly toward for years. Little did she know that in a month’s time, the novel Coronavirus that caused her last semester of nursing school to be upended would be the very virus causing her to fight for her life.
On March 31st, after fighting a fever and illness for days, Chelsie went to the ER, where where she was immediately admitted to ICU on high flow oxygen due to extremely low oxygen levels. She was in respiratory failure caused by pneumonia. It was later determined that she is, in fact, positive for COVID-19. Despite excellent round-the-clock care from all the ICU nurses, respiratory therapists, doctors and care providers, her condition continued to deteriorate. She required intubation and is now on a ventilator. On April 4th, she was transferred to Shands hospital in Gainesville, FL, for ongoing care.
As are most things with this crippling new virus, every minute of every day is unknown for Chelsie. Thankfully, she has always been a fighter and is continuing to fight hard to stay alive and beat this beast so she can complete her last semester of nursing school and continue to impact and save countless lives.
I, along with the entire staff of Medical West, have had the incredible privilege of working with Chelsie at Tift Regional for the past 5 years. She is beloved and well known by several throughout the hospital as one our hardest working, most caring nurse’s aides. I’m honored to call her one of my very best friends. Chelsie is the absolute last person to ask anyone for help, but She is the first person to help whenever and wherever she is needed. Personally, whenever I have needed anything, Chelsie is always right there, the first one to lend a hand. I know I can always count on her. She is so kind and sweet and she holds such a special place in my heart. She is the best daughter, sister, aunt, friend, and coworker anyone could ask for. Right now is our opportunity to help this amazing young woman and her loving family through this uphill battle.
All proceeds donated will go directly to Chelsie for her medical and recovery expenses. We recognize that times are tough for many people right now. While every little bit helps, if you are unable to donate monetarily, prayers and kind words for Chelsie and her family are worth the world and are greatly appreciated and being felt during this difficult time.
Chelsie is unable to receive visitors at this time due to her covid-19 results. Though she may be alone in isolation, she is not alone in our hearts and we can be comforted by the fact that she is in the presence of our Almighty, healing Heavenly Father who hears all of our prayers for her. I know He is holding her hand, helping her fight this devastating virus. Thanks to everyone for their generous and loving support and a massive thanks to the countless Tift Regional medical heroes who worked tirelessly to keep our dear friend and their fellow teammate alive.
Always keep fighting. We love you so much, Checheh.
Thanks for all of your support,
Savannah and all of Medical West
