Help "Chicas Fresas" rebuild after burglary
Donation protected
Hello, I am Bethany and I am making this fundraiser on behalf of my mom, who is the owner of Chicas Fresas. Chicas Fresas is a small, family-owned business in Oakland that has been selling shoes and clothes to the community for 20+ years. Over the years it has survived many hardships, including the Ghostship fire in 2016 which forced us to relocate. However recently, business has been affected by increased crime in the area, causing us to have reduced business hours and increased security measures.
Despite having shorter hours of operation, security cameras, alarm sensors, and rolling steel doors Chicas Fresas was targeted for a burglary on the night of Thanksgiving while we were celebrating with our family.
We are asking for donations to help relieve some of the financial burden caused by repairing all the damages caused to the storefront. Just repairing the doors will cost upwards of $5,000. The burglars ran a truck through the doors and took thousands of dollars in merchandise within minutes. These steel doors are important for security, as having them damaged has caused Chicas Fresas to become a victim of multiple lootings, as a result of the break-in.
Throughout my mom's 20+ years of being in business, this is the first time we are asking our community for help, as this burglary, despite her best efforts to keep her business secured, has left us feeling helpless. We were hoping to open our doors to the community on Small Business Saturday on November 25th but instead were robbed of that, and will have to be closed until the damages have been repaired. We are thankful for the community's ongoing support of Chicas Fresas over the years and I hope our amazing community can rally together to support in replacing all that was stolen. Thank you!
