Art Supplies for Students

Art has always served as my solace and reprieve at various moments in my life. During the height of Covid-19, I’ve felt the amazing ramifications of art’s presence as I struggled to find a semblance of structure and normalcy. It wasn’t a surprise to find that my friends and family members were also struggling to find the motivation to see life through an optimistic lens, especially when the future seemed bleak. And though I momentarily fell into a period of self-reflecting as I dabbled in a handful of activities that never quite satiated my interest and drive, I fell back on the one aspect of my life that has always been consistent: art.
Channeling the emotions and loneliness that I was feeling onto the canvas, I began to flood the overwhelming feelings I had once trapped inside. The canvas became a platform on which my desires and hopes became evident through splashes of colors and aggressive outlines of figurines and structures. Slowly, but surely, the remorse I had bottled up inside during these trying times became unbound as the negative emotions found reprieve with each swoosh of my colored markers and paints.
In hopes to spread this joy, albeit small, I was resolved in my decision to provide other students with art supplies so that they, too, can find and experience this liberating freedom through innovation. With the money I raise, I look forward to donating art supplies such as acrylic paints, watercolors, sketchbooks, and other drawing utensils to underprivileged children and instill into them the power of creativity and the limitless opportunities found on a blank piece of paper. To supplement students without a background in art, I will be providing free online classes to teach the basics of drawing, sharing the beautiful universe that art has offered me with others.
During this time of intense difficulty, I long to share an alternative outlet for those suffering from depression, however severe, and to find comfort within its calming, serene beauty.
