Help children in need get the books they deserve!

Our names are Natalie, Dalia, Alice and Kaylee, and we are 8th graders at St. Louis Park Middle School. Each year, the 8th graders do a community project, where they focus on one community in need and do something to help it. Since we all love books and reading, and know that not everyone is able to afford books like we can, we decided to focus on getting books to people, specifically children, in need. While researching different book-based organizations, we found Room to Read. Room to Read stood out to us because instead of just giving children books and leaving, they really try to help the children they donate books to by helping to train teachers and librarians that live in the countries they're helping out in, donating books in the children's native languages so they understand them better, gathering culturally relevant books to help get the kids excited about reading, making vibrant and fun reading spaces, and focusing on developing both reading skills and habits of reading, so kids will continue to read as they get older. They also focus on more girls going at least through secondary school and getting the same opportunities as boys, and since we all feel very strongly that women's rights are important, we feel like this organization is the best one for us. Our goal is to raise $50, which will help a kid learn to read and write for a whole year! We will take any donation, no matter how small, and hope you'll consider donating to change a kid's life forever.
