Help Children in El Salvador Get an Education 2024
Donation protected
Since its conception 10 years ago, the spirit of this holiday campaign has been to support children in need in El Salvador and spread holiday generosity to those who need it the most.
100% of the funds will go to support "Pasitos por El Salvador" a nonprofit that helps children in communities in need in El Salvador so they can receive an education and end the cycle of street work.
Here's the school's Instagram: https://instagram.com/pasitosporelsalvador?utm_medium=copy_link
and the parent organization's Instagram:
The nonprofit is run by an organization named Reves. Reves is backed by a longstanding Salvadorian NGO called Salvadorian Organization for Integral Development.
The funds will be used for:
- Expenses to support two schools in communities in need.
- Salaries for teachers and psychologists.
-Workshops for parents to prevent and change abusive parenting
- School supplies.
- Healthy meals for the children and their families.
- Food baskets for the families.
- Other small projects for the organization such as Christmas gifts to children living in poverty.
As soon as the funds clear via Paypal, I will send them to a family member in El Salvador, who will exchange them for US$ (currency in El Salvador) and deliver them in person.
I love to keep my donors posted by showing you pictures and videos from the school and of the time the donations are received.
HISTORY OF PASITOS
Laying the foundations for Pasitos in 2013, a group of Salvadorians abroad took interest and researched the population of children and their families that rely on working on the streets to sustain themselves. They do various jobs such as selling small items, candy or cleaning windshields during red lights.
The work had to start with creating awareness in the parents so they could understand that education was very important for their children to end the cycle of working in the streets, some of these families have had four generations that have relied on working in the streets for survival.
In 2019, they tried to integrate these children into regular schooling, but they did not adapt because their lives were very different from the average child. That gave them the idea to start a school, Pasitos, where they obtain not only education but also psychological support and two or three meals a day. Since there might be a loss of income for the family when the children are not working on the street, they also provide the families with food items to compensate for the loss.
In 2021, they opened the first school specially designed for this children with the objective to integrate them into traditional education after graduation.
In 2024, they are focusing on supporting 2 schools in communities in need, delivering parenting workshops and offering warm meals and food baskets to communities in need.
