Help Chippewa Archery Club Get a New Facility!
Donation protected
Chippewa Archery Club is the only archery club in Grand Rapids, Michigan, and we're celebrating our 85th anniversary this year. We've been leasing our current facility (565 Godfrey) for 35 years, but we recently learned that the building is going to be torn down to make way for new development. We've received an eviction notice and have to be out of the building by May 31st.
Our club was founded during the Great Depression and has survived a lot, but this has happened suddenly and we are not prepared for the costs of finding a new facility and relocating. Our current rental rate is much lower than the market rate due to our longevity in the building. Despite tremendous growth in our membership over the past year and good financial standing, we haven't yet built up enough to afford current market rates in Grand Rapids.
We are a small but determined club, and we believe that the sport of archery is for everyone. We have over 50 members, including families, students, hunters, hobbyists, beginners, and pros. We offer archery leagues for all skill levels and we reach hundreds of people a year by hosting and participating in archery tournaments. We like to focus on building and strengthening our community through regular club social events and public open houses. Our members also love that we give them 24/7 access to our indoor archery range, allowing them to practice whenever works for their schedules.
You can help us continue this work by donating today. We're hoping to raise $36,000 because many of the facilities we've seen so far cost about $1,500 per month to lease. Raising the full $36,000 will provide us with two full years of rent payments, allowing us time to continue building our membership so we can sustain ourselves in our new facility at the end of that time period.
All funds received via GoFundMe will go directly to the Chippewa Archery Club and will be used to lease a new facility. If we do not reach our fundraising goal on GoFundMe, we will save what we raise and will earmark those funds for future facility costs. Please note that we are not providing donors to this campaign with any gifts or other benefits of donating - all funds received will go directly to our future facility.
If you aren't able to help financially, you can still help by:
- Sharing this page with family and friends. The more people that see our page, the more likely we are to reach our fundraising goal.
- Keeping an eye out for a new facility. Our archery range requires an open area of at least 80 feet by 40 feet. If you know of a facility in or near Grand Rapids, MI that might meet this requirement, please reach out.
Thank you so much for helping us continue our work to make archery available to everyone here in Grand Rapids. We appreciate you!
