Help Chloe and Joanna demand Fire Safety Justice
Hi there, Chloe and Joanna here. Like millions of leaseholders and tenants up and down the country, we're trapped in apartments with a high risk of fire spreading, unable to sell, remortgage or move on with our lives.
Four years on from Grenfell, where 72+ people tragically died in a tower block blaze, too little is being done to fix the building safety scandal, and it's only a matter of time before the next tragedy hits us.
The Government have turned their back on us. They recently passed a Bill in Parliament which means costs of five, even six figures can be passed down to leaseholders, to be paid within 28 days - some of us have been made bankrupt and evicted and many more will follow.
We have to fight back. We've formed a growing network of leaseholders and tenants - Action for Fire Safety Justice - who are ready to come out onto the streets and fight for our homes and our lives. We're protesting on Thursday 15 July outside Downing Street, to launch our demands to the Government.
We urgently need funding for protest materials and to grow our grassroots network. Please will you help?
- £10 could cover the costs of masks and hand sanitisers, so that our protest is covid-safe
- £20 could pay for a megaphone, to rally the crowds together
- £30 could cover the cost of a large banner, to show our desperate situation to passers by and the press
- £50 could go towards the cost of launching a website and growing our network via social media
We're not asking you to pay our bills - we think that those responsible for building dangerous homes should do the right thing and cover the costs to make our homes safe. But they will not listen to us.
We're asking you if you will help make them listen.
Enough is enough. We have to fight back.
